ICYMI: Poll Shows Dem. Jonathan Nez Tied with Rep. Eli Crane in District Trump Won by Double Digits
FLAGSTAFF, AZ - A new poll shows Democrat Jonathan Nez virtually deadlocked in a race against the incumbent Republican Congressman Eli Crane in a district Donald Trump carried by 15 points.
Nez, who outperformed his Democratic counterparts in 2024, is once again defying expectations, and exposing just how vulnerable Crane has become. Crane won the district by 9 points in 2024, underperforming Donald Trump, and new polling shows his support is slipping among the voters who put him in office.
Despite a 12-point Republican party identification advantage in the district (Dem 29% – Rep 41% – Ind 30%), Nez trails Crane by just 2 points (Nez 44% – Crane 46% – Undecided 10%), within the poll's margin of error.
The polls show Nez is winning where it counts. He holds a 22-point lead among independents and a 10-point lead among voters who recognize both candidates.
“I’m unsurprised that the polls show a close race. As I travel across the district, it’s clear that everybody is hurting because of Congressman Eli Crane’s harmful policies. There’s a dire water crisis, costs are skyrocketing, and healthcare is being ripped from thousands of families,” said Nez. “Voters are tired of rising gas and grocery costs, endless wars, and blatant corruption at the hands of Crane. People are going to the polls this November to create change.”
