As Arizona Water Crisis Deepens, Rep. Crane Stands with Washington Bureaucrats Making it Worse

FLAGSTAFF, AZ - Earlier this week, Congressman Eli Crane took to social media to stage a photo-op at Theodore Roosevelt Dam, another performative stunt from a Congressman who is making Arizona’s water crisis even worse.

Crane posed alongside U.S. Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum, who just ordered Arizona to cut its Colorado River water use by an unsustainable 30%. Washington’s  attack on Arizona has been condemned by leaders of both parties, including Republicans worried about the ongoing water crisis. Yet Rep. Crane welcomed the Washington bureaucrats responsible with open arms, betraying the people of rural Arizona.

Residents are sounding the alarm that the federal government is threatening to shut down the Southwest,” yet Crane continues to offer Arizonans little more than social media posts and empty political theater after years of doing nothing but making our water crisis worse.

“This is a pathetic social media stunt designed to fool Arizonans into forgetting that Congressman Eli Crane has made the water crisis worse. Crane doesn’t have the courage to stand up to Washington, and his constituents are suffering as a result,” said Nez. “Washington bureaucrats targeted Arizona with this harmful water order, and instead of bringing water projects to Arizona, Crane is sending those tax dollars to California. Arizona families are facing a real water crisis. I’m running for Congress to protect our water and rural Arizona’s way of life.”

Meanwhile, Crane has voted with Trump nearly 100% of the time. He has stated he doesn’t even like his job in Congress, as evident by his refusal to fight for Arizona’s water.

In Congress, Crane has refused to bring critical water projects to rural Arizona while sending taxpayer dollars elsewhere. He also voted for massive tax breaks for data centers that drain local water supplies and drive up electricity costs. And after previously doing business with a major data center developer, Crane took $40,000 from donors with financial interests in the data industry.
