FLAGSTAFF, AZ — Jonathan Nez, candidate for Arizona’s Second Congressional District and the former President of the Navajo Nation, issued the following statement on FEMA’s decision to deny federal disaster funds for Gila and Mohave counties as they are still recovering from historical flooding:
“This is supposed to be the season of hope and renewed caring for each other, and yet FEMA has just denied federal disaster funds for Gila and Mohave counties after they experienced historic and deadly floods this fall.
FEMA and this administration must immediately reconsider this decision and provide critical support to families and businesses still working on rebuilding.
And I call on our current Congressman Eli Crane to stand up to this administration’s callous response to this disaster and ensure Arizona’s 2nd Congressional District residents are not left without critical support during the holiday season.”
